Positive Discipline for Parents, Teachers & Children
-
Positive Discipline is a model based on Adlerian Psychology and the works of Psychologist Rudolf Dreikurs from the 1920’s. It can be used by parents, teachers, couples, business and community leaders to learn to create responsible, respectful, and resourceful relationships in their communities. Based on the best selling Positive Discipline books by Jane Nelsen, Lynn Lott, and co-authors that began this in the 1980’s, this model can be applied to both children and adults to become contributing members of their communities.

MINDFULNESS for Families
-
Mindfulness finds its origins in Buddhism, positive psychology and cognitive behavioral therapy. It’s main focus is to reduce stress but has also been extremely effective in treating a variety of chronic illnesses. It has also been found to increase your levels of focus and attention, as well as reduce sadness, anxiety and depression. Mindfulness involves the idea of going inwards, befriending the self and focuses on “being” rather than on “doing”. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction was developed in the late 1970s by Jon Kabat-Zinn who is an American professor emeritus of medicine and the creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

MBSR uses a combination of mindful meditation, yoga, and body awareness strategies to help you become present in the moment and focus on the sensations and feelings that you have. Practicing Mindfulness is about cultivating awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present movement, non-judgmentally.
